Let’s hear it for Adam – who celebrated two major milestones back to back: a promotion and his 10 year anniversary! Read on to hear some of his highlights from his time at Freeosk.
What are some of your favorite memories from your time at Freeosk over the past 10 years?
During the Covid pandemic the team pulled together to make changes so that kiosks wouldn’t be pulled from the floor in Sam’s Club. There was a lot of coordination and hard work put in to deliver a technology solution. It was an exciting time.
If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice at the start of your time at Freeosk, what would it be?
The biggest piece of advice I would tell myself would be to slow down, think things through, and don’t rush changes to the software. Hasty decisions usually lead to more work in the future.
What has been the most memorable project you’ve worked on?
The Sam’s Club instant savings project has really been a big topic of discussion over the years. We have since expanded it to become retailer agnostic and it’s one of our most important API integrations. It’s interesting to see projects that start as one-offs turn into something much, much bigger.
Can you describe what Freeosk means to you, on a personal level, in 15 words or less?
Many smart, dedicated, trustworthy people work here. These are important qualities.
What do you see as your biggest accomplishment during your career at Freeosk?
A lot of features and fixes have been added to Webport since I joined. The Webport is a big part of our kiosk deployment system and keeping it running has been a fun challenge.
What is one way Freeosk has changed for the better during your time here?
We have added a lot of project management tools and processes that make it easier to plan and execute work. This has really accelerated team productivity, especially when considering that the team is much bigger now.
What is one item we haven’t sampled (yet) that you would love to see in the Freeosk someday?
I’m a big candy connoisseur. It would be hilarious to see reactions with the kiosk stocked full of Durian candy. Another favorite would be coconut ginger candy. Such an interesting flavor combination.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I get a lot of satisfaction from working with teammates to deliver new work. There is always something new to figure out and understand.
If you could put a kiosk ANYWHERE in the world, where would you put one?
Merida, Mexico! It’s one of the safest cities in LATAM and there are already multiple Walmarts and Sam’s Club’s there. Also, it’s home to one of the best restaurants in Mexico, Micaela Mar & Leña. The octopus is highly recommended.
